Werder (Havel) holds the river in its name, the region is shaped by water. Here, almost everything revolves around the river Havel and water sports.

The city by the water

Werder (Havel) is surrounded by lakes that distinguish themselves by their excellent water quality. The lakes Schwielowsee, Glindowsee, Großer Plessower See, and Zernsee as well as parts of the river Havel border the city area. It goes without saying that all types of water sports offer popular leisure activities.

An excellent maritime infrastructure awaits you on the banks of the river Havel, ranging from simple water hiking rest areas or camping sites to 5-star marinas with upscale restaurants. Charter companies and boat rentals offer canoes, kayaks, pedal boats, license-free motorboats, and sailing yachts to ensure that everyone may indulge in pure water fun.

Besides traditional water sports, such as rowing and sailing, those looking for more action may also enjoy surfing, water skiing, catamaran sailing, and paragliding.

The city's yacht service providers have set up the association ‘Werder maritim’ where they share their offers and information.
