The Old Town is located on an island in the middle of the river Havel. It is a must for all skippers to moor here and explore the island city. Public moorings, marinas, guest berths, boathouses, and accommodations are not always immediately recognizable for water tourists who are unfamiliar with the area. The symbol of the ‘Yellow Wave’ serves as an orientation aid; it says ‘Welcome!’ and provides information about mooring options, marina amenities, tourist facilities, and sights.
